  1. Describe the etiology and pathogenesis of the selected disease states
  2. Name the signs and symptoms of the diseases
  3. Mention the complications of the diseases
  4. Interpret the pathophysiologic mechanism of the diseases

Practicals

  1. Perform laboratory test for blood group identification
  2. Examine blood glucose & interpret status of diabetes mellitus
  3. Monitor parameters associated with cardiovascular diseases
  4. Patient counselling through prescription analysis, ADR etc

2.2 Pharmaceutical Microbiology

  1. Know the anatomy, identification, growth factors and sterilization of microorganisms
  2. Know the mode of transmission of disease causing microorganism, symptoms of disease, and treatment aspect
  3. Appreciate the behavior of motility and behavioral characteristics of microorganisms
  4. Understand role of immunological preparation in diagnosis & control of diseases
  5. Understand requirement & factor for growth of microorganism

Practicals

  1. Do estimation of RNA and DNA and there by identifying the source
  2. Do cultivation and identification of the microorganisms in the laboratory
  3. Do identification of diseases by performing the diagnostic tests
  4. Understand microbiological assay of various antibiotics and vitamins
  5. Identify motility & behavioral characters of microorganism

2.3 Pharmacognosy & Phytopharmaceuticals

  1. Understand the basic principles of cultivation, collection and storage of crude drugs
  2. Know the source, active constituents and uses of crude drugs
  3. Appreciate the applications of primary and secondary metabolites of the plant
  4. Discuss modern herbs & their science

Practicals

  1. Formulations and preparations of herbal medicines
  2. Recognition of medicinal plants, identification of adulteration and contamination
  3. Experiment with phytochemical screening of herbs

2.4 Pharmacology-I

  1. Understand the pharmacological aspects of drugs
  2. Handle and carry out the animal experiments
  3. Appreciate the importance of pharmacology subject as a basis of therapeutics
  4. Correlate and apply the knowledge therapeutically

2.5 Community Pharmacy

  1. Know the business & professional practice management skill in community pharmacies
  2. Respond to minor ailments & provide appropiate medications
  3. Apply knowledge to do patient counselling & provide health care screening services to public
  4. Knowledge about pharmaceutical care services for society
  5. Appreciate the concept of rational drug therapy

2.6 Pharmacotherapeutics-I

  1. Understand the pathophysiology of selected disease states and the rationale for drug therapy
  2. Understand the therapeutic approach to management of these diseases
  3. Know the importance of preparation of individualised therapeutic plans based on diagnosis
  4. Describe the pathophysiology of selected disease states and explain the rationale for drug therapy
  5. Summaries the therapeutic approach to management of these diseases including reference to the latest available evidence

Practicals

  1. Needs to identify the patient-specific parameters relevant in initiating drug therapy, and monitoring therapy (including alternatives, time-course of clinical and laboratory indices of therapeutic response and adverse effects);
  2. Discuss the controversies in drug therapy
  3. Discuss the preparation of individualized therapeutic plans based on diagnosis
  4. Identify the patient-specific parameters relevant in initiating drug therapy, and monitoring therapy (including alternatives, time-course of clinical and laboratory indices of therapeutic response and adverse effects
